Rev. Robert Harmon says:

I was born and raised in Valparaiso, Indiana, and graduated from Bradley University, Peoria, IL in 1984. From 1984 until 1991, I worked as a Chemist for several companies. In 1991, I went to Christian Theological Seminary (Indianapolis, IN) and graduated in 1995. I met my wife, Debbie Elston Harmon at seminary and was married in 1995. That same year, I was ordained in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).

Since beginning my ministry in seminary, I have served several Christian Churches (Disciples of Christ) in the central Indiana area, including serving as a student minister with the Presbyterian Church, USA, and also with the United Methodist Church. Also, I have been active in University Campus Ministry for Indiana, which was supported by Presbyterian, Methodist, Disciples, and United Church of Christ churches. Through this work, I have become very interested in ecumenical relations between denominations. And I have been active in summer camp ministries with youth as a Director and as a Counselor. During these summer camps, youth have a chance to develop and deepen their connection to God, to the church, and to Christ.

In 2003, my wife, who is also an ordained minister in the Christian Church, received a call to the Edinburg Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). In 2004, I received standing in the United Church of Christ (UCC) and beginning in 2005, I served as Interim Pastor at Brown Memorial UCC in McGaheysville. In May 2005, I began serving Grace UCC as their minister. Since I have been here at Grace, I am very impressed with the warm fellowship we have here at Grace and with the care we have for each other and our neighbors in the valley.
