Shenandoah Association Fall Meeting 2007

Sunday, October 21, 2007 – 3:00 PM

St. Paul’s United Church of Christ – Woodstock, Virginia

 

 

This meeting was a Joint Assembly of the Shenandoah Association of the United Church of Christ and District XI Christian Churches, Disciples of Christ.

 

For those interested in singing with the District Choir, choir practice was scheduled for 2:30 PM.  Fellowship and Registration began at 3:00 PM, followed by our Opening and Devotions at 3:30 PM. 

 

We were led in worship by The Reverends Julie Overman, Barbara Rhodes, Richard Vaught, Lee Parker, John Deckenback, James Perry, Debra Harmon; Pastor Robert Morris; Ms. Donna Crabill, Ms. Anne Holland; and Mr. Willard Lutz.  The service consisted of  scripture readings, hymn singing, an anthem by the choir, Mission and Witness presentations, communion, and an offering.  The offering benefited Church World Service in support of the School Kits Project.

 

Following the worship service, the entire assembly was invited to view Mission Fair “booth” spaces set up by various churches of both denominations.  Those displaying booths about their church’s mission work or their personal mission work were:

Ø Church World Service

Following the Mission Fair, a fried chicken dinner was served by the Hospitality Committee of St. Paul’s UCC.  After dinner, each denomination separated into different areas of the church in order to attend to their individual business meetings.  You can review the official minutes from the Shenandoah Association business meeting by clicking on the “Council Minutes” link above.

 

There were 14 Shenandoah Association churches represented at this meeting.  In attendance were 11 clergy, 19 delegates, and 9 visitors.
